1985 – 1987   Apprenticeship as a carpenter in Hoyerswerda, GDR
1987 – 1990   Working independently as a carpenter, carpenter and carver in the GDR
1990 – 1999   Traditional hike
Further training and research exclusively with hand tools in carpentry, joinery, log building, boat building, mill building and carving in Europe (Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Greece, Norway, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland
Research and documentation of historical construction methods, e.g. Windmill construction in France, hall construction in Alsace, stick mining in Norway
Worked exclusively with an ax and broad hatchet for two years on a project in Norway
1999 – 2001   Stay in the Himalayas
Learning the traditional art of wood construction and carving in India (Kashmir, Kumaon, Ladakh), Nepal and Bhutan
Research and documentation of historical wood construction and carving in India (Kumaon, Sikkim), Nepal and Bhutan
Further training in drawing with Bijay Basukala and Dr. Niels Gutschow
First scientific co-publication "Doba, snapshot of a village in northwest Nepal" under the direction of Prof. Andreas Brandt
2001 – 2002   Work on a scientific research project (on behalf of the German Research Society) about "Kondh" villages in Orissa (India) under the direction of Prof. Andreas Brandt and Dr. Niels Gutschow; activity as Illustrator and documentarian
2002   Further training with U Win Maung (architect and master carver) in Mandalay/Myanmar (Burma)
Since 2002   Working independently in Germany, England, France, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Norway and Hungary as a carpenter, carpenter and carver
2004 / 2006   Worked and learned for 2 months in Japan with a temple builder and a traditional carpenter
2009 – 2010   Further training and research in Iran, India, Nepal, China
Learning how to sharpen traditional saws in Japan
Since 2017   We have been giving courses in spatula (roof geometry), stair construction, sharpening saws, technical drawing - partly in an academic setting, in Norway and Sweden
2017 / 2019   Participation in the reconstruction of the temples in Patan Nepal after the earthquake of 2015
